FAQs

Why should I care about Windows as long as it looks and feels like Windows?
Looking and feeling like Windows can only do so much, and only at a very basic level. PBS Member Stations who use BroadView are amazed to find out how much ease of use and functionality they’ve been missing by not having a Windows-based product.

Beyond the user interface, a Windows product can be trusted to handle the demands and flexibility of the IT-based broadcast environment…today and into the future.

What are Wizards?
No, they’re not the team of 20 software developers who build our product, although they often produce magical results. Wizards are intuitive Windows-based “mini-programs” that make using BroadView so easy.

My station uses an automation system that not many others use. How do I know that BroadView can handle this?
BroadView uses an industry-standard open-based architecture that allows for connection to any automation system.

As well, BroadView is a member of the SMPTE working group that has just released BXF – a new industry standard that will allow all aspects of your operation to seamlessly communicate. Look for the BXF symbol indicated by participating vendors.

Everyone says their products are fully-integrated. What does fully-integrated really mean?
Fully-integrated means there is a single database of information that drives different functions in real time. That means one person can work on the schedule, while another works on the log. It means that all data is entered once. It means not waiting for one part of the system to hand off data to another area.

Most older systems are interfaced, which is not the same. Industry standards are moving away from the wait times, data duplication errors and frustrations of interfacing.

Every time I read about BroadView doing something new and different, I start to hear from other vendors that they do it too. How am I supposed to make the right decision?
What can we say – Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Well not really. Not if you’re a member station who needs to make a decision and can’t afford to find out *after* the install that it doesn’t really work the way they say it does.

If you’re comparing feature to feature and functionality to functionality, you need to do more than just find out what we, or other vendors, have to say. You need to see the software and you need to talk to other member stations who use it. After all, “saying” and actually “doing” are two different things.

We invite you to prove what we say about BroadView We can help you with this by giving you on-line product demos, visiting your station, or introducing you to the member stations who use and love BroadView.
